WHAT IF!

WHAT IF YOU AWOKE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT TO FIND YOUR HOME ON FIRE!

WHAT IF YOUR FATHER STARTED HAVING CHEST PAINS!

WHAT IF YOUR DAUGHTER WAS HIT BY A CAR ON HER WAY TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE!

WHAT IF YOUT SON DIDN’T SHOW UP AT THE CANOE LANDING AND THE SUN HAS SET!

Things like this happen all the time and someone needs to be there to answer the call when our family, friends or neighbors need help.

What if you could be that person who can help?  We can help you become that person.  Think of how good it would feel to know you made a big difference on someone’s worst day of their life.  After all when someone dials 911, its probably the worst day of their life.

As a member of the Highland Fire Department you can be trained as a firefighter, a first responder, a search and rescue tech or a river rescue tech.  You can work in one or all of these positions and you will be trained for FREE!  We also have a junior firefighter program so our younger folks can have the experience of serving the community.  As a firefighter you can start with in-house training to learn the basics and will be equipped with personal protective gear and a pager. If this is for you after you’ve tried it for a while we will send you to an NFPA certified course held near by in the evenings at NO COST TO YOU!  As a First Responder you will get the training and equipment to help save a life. This would also be an evening course. We also fight wildland fires, do search and rescue both on the river and over land and we do ice rescue.

  MEETINGS AND TRAININGS

Fire Department business meetings are held on the first Tuesday each month at 6:30 p.m.  Trainings meetings are held on the third Tuesday each month also at 6:30 p.m. Both are held at the Fire Hall just south of Stone’s Bridge on County Road S.  You need not make an appointment to come to a meeting and learn more about what you could do for your community.
