August 6, 2008 Committee Meeting
Comprehensive Planning Committee Meeting August 6, 2008 Highland Town Hall Meeting called to order @ 6:00 by Willard. Meeting was posted by Anne. Minutes of last meeting approved as read. No sign-ups for public in-put. Willard added to the agenda to follow up on the discussion on roads and culverts. Janice checked with Wisconsin Towns Association and stated that the contractor is responsible for the work done to put in culverts and that the town would inspect to make sure it was installed properly. Keith Kessler has worked with the town in the past for placement of a tower and grants available to townships. Janice also stated that the town was unable to get a grant for a tower and the town was unable to spend any money for a tower at this time. This will be an on going discussion as the committee continues to work on the plan for the town. Discussion on cell towers and wind towers continued and the committee felt there should be some input from the county on this and that at this time the town plan would be consistent with the county plan until after future discussion. Discussion continued on Utilities and Community Facilities. Sue Ann will have goals and objectives typed and ready for the next meeting. Discussion and Agriculture. Willard had a rough draft. Committee accepted the rough draft and it will be ready for the next meeting. Discussion continued on Cultural and Historic Sites in the town. Sue Ann had checked on the web and felt that the old town hall would probably not fit the criteria for a historical building. Janice will contact Kay Colletta to get more information on the town hall and possibly to run an add in the paper to ask for information from surrounding communities. It was mentioned that there could possibly be a “repair day” for the old town hall. It was last stained in 1992 or 1993. Another idea surfaced through discussion that the old town hall would make a great location for an interpretative center. A rough draft for Cultural was discussed and Sue Ann will have a rough draft prepared for the next meeting. Willard will start on the Natural Resources and he will ask Ron to continue to get information on towers. Willard will also contact Mike to have him attend our next meeting to share maps of the town of Highland with the committee. Next meeting will be August 20, 2008 @ 6:00 @ the Highland Town Hall. Meeting adjourned @ 7:45.
