December 4, 2007 Fire Department Meeting
HIGHLAND FIRE DEPARTMENT MEETING MINUTES December 4, 2007 Members present: John Prohaska, Todd Carlson, Sherrie Craft, Matt Carlson, Matt Carlson, Ron Cairns, Marvin Landreth, Dawn Ross and Kally Ross. 6:46 the meeting was called to order by Assistant Chief Todd Carlson. Minutes from the last meeting were given to members. Motion to accept minutes made by Matt and seconded by Marvin. Motion carried. Treasurer’s Report was given. Motion to accept the report made by Matt and seconded by Marvin. Motion carried. Correspondence: None Fire Association Meetings: Not Attended Committee Report: Bingo – We seem to be doing fairly well since the changes were implemented. Donations of door prizes have been given by many area businesses. A schedule was made for December and January. Fire/EMS Report: 2 Medical – Cut to head 11/9, High blood pressure 11/12. 1 Mutual Aid Fire – Barnes-Cancelled 11/29, 1 Mutual Aid Ice Rescue – Barnes 12/4. Old Business: Tanker – Marvin presented some used trucks for us to look at. A long discussion was held on what we are trying to achieve with the new truck, what we need as a water supply, pros and cons of new vs. used. Barnes and Nebagamon are both getting new tankers because of issues with the old ones breaking down and the inability of all members being able to drive the old trucks. These are the same problems that we are having. Engine – the siren control box is not working on the engine and needs to be replaced. The light bar is also not working right. A motion was made by Ron and seconded by Marvin to purchase light bar, siren, and controls needed to operate theses items from Bendlin Fire. All members were in favor. Motion carried. New Business: Holiday Party – we discussed keeping the party here in the township. Members thought that we could cook our own food and bring a dish to pass. Motion made by Kally and seconded by Matt to talk to Kathy about possible dates for a party at Gopher Hole. Motion carried. Ron will talk to her and John will follow up. The January meeting date falls on New Years Day. A motion was made to change the meeting to the following Tuesday, (1/8/08), made by Matt and seconded by Kally. Motion carried. Dawn would like to do a joint training with Barnes and Nebagamon. Some training ideas were discussed. Motion made by Kally and seconded by Matt to adjourn. Motion carried. Training will be Tuesday, December 18, 2007 @ 6:30pm at the fire hall. Next Meeting will be Tuesday, January 8, 2008 @ 6:30pm at the fire hall.
