Regular Town Board Meeting
June 14, 2011

Sue Ann Bruce called the meeting to order.  The pledge of allegiance
was recited.  Roll call was taken and all board members were present: 
Sue Ann Bruce – Chairperson, Scott Khalar – Supervisor, Mike Trenda –
Supervisor, Nora Anne Moss – Clerk, and Rose Graves – Treasurer.  The
Clerk verified that the meeting was published and posted.  

M. Trenda made a motion to accept the agenda as printed.  S. Khalar
seconded the motion and motion carried.  M. Trenda made a motion to
approve the minutes from the previous meetings as written (May 16,
2011, May 26, 2011 and May 10, 2011.)  S. Bruce seconded the motion
and motion carried. 

Tom Stewart introduced Andy Lisak, Douglas County Administrator.  A.
Lisak has been administrator since July 2011 and is trying to get out
to all the towns and villages.  He gave a summary of what is happening
in the county and also invited the board to contact him with any
concerns or questions. 

S. Khalar made a motion to have S. Bruce create a fireworks permit for
Mike Houliahan.  M. Trenda seconded the motion and motion carried. 

S. Khalar made a motion to approve Kathy Emons Liquor License and
Cigarette License.  M. Trenda seconded the motion and motion carried.

M. Trenda made a motion to have the clerk complete the application for
refinancing the town’s current loans through the State Trust Fund at a
rate of 3.75% for a term of 10 years.  S. Khalar seconded the motion
and motion carried.  There will continue to be 3 separate loans.

Discussion was held on the PASER report.  The board will attempt to
complete this report themselves.  

S. Khalar made a motion to have S. Bruce send the letter as prepared
to the lawyer representing Kurilla Logging.  M. Trenda seconded the
motion and motion carried. 

Discussion was held on repairing or replacing the backhoe.  We are
still waiting to hear from the insurance adjuster.  M. Trenda made a
motion to have S. Khalar arrange for renting the 2009 from Nortrax in
Ashland.  S. Khalar seconded the motion and motion carried.  S. Khalar
will also contact other dealers to see if they can provide a quote and
demo model.

Discussion was held on the shoulders/culverts of Minnusuing Road,
Francis Willard Road and the Fire Tower road.  S. Bruce made a motion
for S. Khalar to contract whomever necessary to resolve the beaver
issue on Frances Willard Road.  M. Trenda seconded the motion and
motion carried.

S. Khalar made a motion to have S. Bruce advertise for Crack Sealing
and or Seal Coating for Hazel Prairie Road, Oakdale Road, Beauregard
Lake Road and Murray Lake Road.

M. Trenda gave the Grounds Building and Recycling Report.  There were
no extra maintenance issues.  The County Wide Recycling day is set for
June 18th.  There is information on the boards.

Larry Schaller gave the Constable’s report of 4 calls.

Will Kiefer stated there was no activity for the Cemetery or the Town
Plan Commission.

Ron Cairns gave the Fire Department Report of 1 mutual aid for a
medical call.  Discussion was held on having the old fire department
radios reprogrammed for use in the highway department vehicles.  A
representative from DSC was in attendance to discuss how this would
work.  He will take the radios with him to start the reprogramming and
to provide an accurate quote of the costs.    M. Trenda made a motion
to approve the fire department’s disbursement requests.  S. Khalar
seconded the motion and motion carried.  Marvin Landreth gave an
update on the upcoming Firewise Fun Day to be held on June 25th.

M. Trenda made a motion to approve the monthly payroll and
disbursement requests.  S. Khalar seconded the motion and motion
carried.

R. Graves gave the Treasurer’s Report.  S. Khalar made a motion to
approve the report as read.  M. Trenda seconded the motion and motion
carried.

Total Receipts:			$     5,088.45
Total Disbursements:		$   62,533.66
Ending Balance:			$    99,038.33

The next Regular Town Board Meeting will be Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at
7:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall.  

M. Trenda made a motion to adjourn.  S. Khalar seconded the motion and
motion carried.  Meeting was adjourned.
