VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

APRIL 6, 2021

SPRING ELECTION

 

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered to vote in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.

 

You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing.

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the election.  You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter, or you may apply for an absentee ballot online at MyVote.wi.gov.  Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail, email, fax, in person or at MyVote.wi.gov.

The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is: Thursday, April 1, 2021.

 

Note: Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact your municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

 

The first date to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office:     Tuesday, March 23, 2021

 

The last day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office:       Friday, April 2, 2021.

 

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on April 6, 2021.  Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.

 

You may request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office, or other specified location, during the days and hours listed below for casting an absentee ballot in person.

Regular Town Board Meeting

The Regular Town Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall.  The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. to review correspondence and disbursements.  A full agenda will be posted.

Invitation to Bid Murray Lake Road

The Town of Highland, Douglas County is accepting sealed bids for the pulverizing of existing blacktop on Murray Lake Road.  Work also to include placing and compacting gravel to a finished 4” depth.  Project area begins at the intersection of Highway 27 and continues southeast along Murray Lake Road to Sand Lake Boulevard.  Base must be 22’ wide.    Project must be completed by September 1, 2021.  For questions, contact Charles S. Bids will be accepted until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Bids will be opened and possibly awarded at that time at a meeting at the Highland Town Hall.  Bids can be mailed to the Town of Highland, PO Box 22, Lake Nebagamon, WI  54849.  Please write bid enclosed on outside of envelope.

Invitation to Bid Hazel Prairie Road

The Town of Highland, Douglas County is accepting sealed bids for the reconstruction on a portion of Hazel Prairie Road.  Work to include pulverizing existing pavement, placing and compacting gravel to a finished 4” depth, placing 2” overlay of cold mix, (11’ driving lanes) and placing 2’ gravel shoulders.  Project area begins at the intersection of Highway S and continues west along Hazel Prairie Road through the intersection of Oakdale Road. Project must be completed by September 1, 2021.  For questions, contact Charles S. Khalar at (715) 374-3437.  THIS IS AN LRIP PROJECT.

At the Spring Primary to be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 in the Town of Highland, the following polling place location will be used:

The Polling Place will open at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 8:00 p.m.
