The Town of Highland is seeking applicants for two immediate openings for Transfer Station Attendants.

 

Hours:                  10:45 to 4:15 Saturdays and Sundays (rotating basis)

 

Pay:                        Starting pay is $15.75 per hour

 

Job requirements:  Dependability, strong personal skills, and the ability to       

               lift 50 pounds occasionally as needed

 

This job entails being outside for extended periods in all weather conditions.

The Town of Highland is seeking bids for the sale of the following surplus tires.  Bids should be submitted to the Town of Highland, PO Box 22, Lake Nebagamon, WI  54849 no later than 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.  Bids will be opened and possibly awarded at the Highland Town Board meeting at that time.  Please write “Bid Enclosed” on the envelope.  The following tires are up for bid (used 1 season):

Town Plan Commission Review Committee

The Town Plan Commission Review Committee will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall.  The Plan Commission will be reviewing and updating Highland’s Comprehensive Plan.


Absentee Voting Spring Primary

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

FEBUARY 21, 2023

SPRING PRIMARY

 

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered to vote in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.

 

You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing.

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the election.  You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter, or you may apply for an absentee ballot online at MyVote.wi.gov.  Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail, email, fax, in person or at MyVote.wi.gov.  The form is available on the town’s website.

The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is: Thursday, February 16, 2023.

 

Note: Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact your municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

 

The first date to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office:      Tuesday, February 7, 2023

 

The last day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office:         Friday, February 17, 2023.

 

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on February 21, 2023.  Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.

 

You may request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office, or other specified location, during the days and hours listed below for casting an absentee ballot in person.

Special Town Board Meeting

NOTICE

Special Town Board Meeting

 

The Town Board will meet at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the Highland Town Hall.  Topics discussed and possibly acted on will be updating job descriptions and procedure to record project costs.  .  Also discussed will be allowing the snowmobile club to store diesel fuel on town property.

Bids Requested Crush and Stockpile Gravel

The Town of Highland will receive sealed bids until Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.   Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at that time (at the Highland Town Hall – 9360 S County Road S).  Bids should be submitted to the Town Clerk, Town of Highland, PO Box 22, Lake Nebagamon, WI  54849.  Please write “Bid enclosed – Crush Gravel” on the envelope.

Project includes crushing and stockpiling a minimum of $25,000 and possibly more (to be determined at a later date) of ¾” minus of road gravel at the Town of Gordon’s gravel pit.   Call Charles Khalar at (715) 374-3437 with questions regarding this project.
