Request for Bids

TOWN OF HIGHLAND, DOUGLAS COUNTY

REQUEST FOR BIDS

The Town of Highland is accepting sealed bids for placing a single chip seal on the following roads:

Peterson Road – .5 mile by 22’ wide

Circle Road – .8 mile by 22’ wide

Sand Lake Road – 1 mile by 21’ wide

Projects should be bid separately, and the Town is also requesting a bid that contains all three projects combined.

Bids will be accepted until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2020.  Bids should be mailed to Town of Highland, PO Box 22, Lake Nebagamon, WI  54849.  Please mark “Bid Enclosed” on outside of envelope.

Special Town Board Meeting

NOTICE

SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING

The Town Board will meet at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2020 at the Highland Town Hall.  The Board expects to Declare a State of Emergency due to the global pandemic and the current order to restrict gatherings of more than 10 people.  The Board will also discuss and possibly adopt an Ordinance Authorizing Alternative Claims Procedure.  The Board will discuss and possibly adopt a Resolution to provide for successors to town office in emergency.   The Board will discuss and possibly adopt a Resolution appointing emergency management officer.  The Board will also discuss road projects.

Voting by Absentee Ballot

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

APRIL 7, 2020

SPRING PRIMARY ELECTION

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 10 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered to vote in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.

You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing.

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the primary or general election or both. You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter. Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail or in person.

The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is: Thursday, April 2, 2020.

Note: Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact your municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on April 7, 2020. Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.

You may request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office, or other specified location, during the days and hours listed below for casting an absentee ballot in person.

The Regular Town Board Meeting will be held on

Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

at the Highland Town Hall. The Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. to review correspondence and disbursements. An Agenda will be posted.

At the General Election to be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 in the Town of Highland, the following polling place location will be used:

Highland Town Hall

 9360 S County Road S

The Polling Place will open at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 8:00 p.m.

This polling place is accessible to the elderly and disabled voters.

Acceptable Photo ID is required to vote at this election.  If you do not have a Photo ID, you may obtain a free ID for voting from the Division of Motor Vehicles.


New Transfer Station Hours

New Transfer Station Hours starting February 22, 2020

Saturday and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

During the months of June, July and August the Transfer Station will also be opened on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Please remember that loose Glass, Plastic and paper are recyclable. (Plastic bags are discouraged as they clog up machinery).

 Cardboard boxes should be broken down and flattened.
