At the General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in the Town of Highland, the following polling place location will be used:

Highland Town Hall

 9360 S County Road S

The Polling Place will open at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 8:00 p.m.

This polling place is accessible to the elderly and disabled voters.

Acceptable Photo ID is required to vote at this election.  If you do not have a Photo ID, you may obtain a free ID for voting from the Division of Motor Vehicles.


Town Plan Commission Meeting and Review Comm

 

NOTICE

PLAN COMMISSION MEETING

 

The Town Plan Commission will be holding a meeting on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall.  The Plan Commission will be reviewing the possible revisions to the Douglas County Campground Ordinance and making a recommendation to the town board.

 

The Town Plan Commission Review Committee will be meeting immediately following the above meeting to continue reviewing Highland’s Comprehensive Plan.

NOTICE OF TOWN BOARD MEETING Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, immediately following the completion of the Special Town Meeting of the Electors, which shall follow the public hearing on the 2023 proposed budget, which begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall, a Town Board Meeting will be held for the following purpose:     For the Town Board to discuss and adopt the 2023 Budget for the Town of Highland.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE ELECTORS Notice is hereby given of a Special Town  Meeting of the Electors of the Town of Highland on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.  This Special Town Meeting will follow the completion of the Public Hearing on the proposed 2023 Town Budget, which begins at 6:00 p.m., at the Highland Town Hall.  This Special Town Meeting of the electors is called pursuant to Sec. 60.12(1)(b) of Wis. Statutes by the Town Board for the following purpose:     To adopt the 2022 Town Tax Levy to be paid in 2023 in pursuant to Sec. 10(1)(a) of Wis. Statutes.     $181,894

The Regular Town Board Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.  The Board will meet at 6:30 pm to review correspondence and disbursements.  An Agenda will be posted.  Note the change in day due to the Election being held on Tuesday, November 8.

Absentee Voting for General Election

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

NOVEMBER 8, 2022

GENERAL ELECTION

 

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered to vote in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.

 

You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing.

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the election.  You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter, or you may apply for an absentee ballot online at MyVote.wi.gov.  Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail, email, fax, in person or at MyVote.wi.gov.  The form is available on the town’s website.

The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is: Thursday, November 3, 2022.

 

Note: Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact your municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

 

The first date to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office:      Tuesday, October 25, 2022

 

The last day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office:         Friday, November 4, 2022.

 

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on November 8, 2022.  Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.

 

You may request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office, or other specified location, during the days and hours listed below for casting an absentee ballot in person.

Special Town Board Meeting

 

NOTICE

 

There will be a Special Town Board Meeting on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall.  The board will be reviewing and possibly amending the 2022 budget and creating the 2023 budget.
