PUBLIC TEST OF ELECTION TABULATION EQUIPMENT

FOR AUGUST 9, 2022 PARTISAN PRIMARY

Pursuant to Section 5.84 of the Wisconsin Statutes, notice is hereby given that a public test of the DS200 tabulation equipment and the ExpressVote ballot marking equipment to be used at the above election, will be held as follows:

Location and Hours of Polling Place

At the Partisan Primary to be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in the Town of Highland, the following polling place location will be used:

 

Highland Town Hall

 9360 S County Road S

 

The Polling Place will open at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 8:00 p.m.

Acceptable Photo ID is required to vote at this election.  If you do not have a Photo ID, you may obtain a free ID for voting from the Division of Motor Vehicles.

 


Special Town Board Meeting

NOTICE

 

There will be a Special Town Board Meeting on July 26, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall.  Discussion will be on purchasing a new truck, granting purchasing authority to a town board member and amending the budget as needed for the purchase of the truck.  Also discussed will be the applications for the Transfer Station Attendants and rates and continuation of snowplowing private driveways for the 2022/2023 season rates

Absentee Voting

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

AUGUST 9, 2022

SPRING ELECTION

 Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered to vote in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.

You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing.

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the election.  You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter, or you may apply for an absentee ballot online at MyVote.wi.gov.  Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail, email, fax, in person or at MyVote.wi.gov.  The form is available on the town’s website.

The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is: Thursday, August 4, 2022.

 Note: Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact your municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

The first date to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office:      Tuesday, July 26, 2022

 The last day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office:         Friday, August 5, 2022.

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on August 9, 2022.  Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.

You may request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office, or other specified location, during the days and hours listed below for casting an absentee ballot in person.

Transfer Station Attendant Job Opening

 

The Town of Highland is accepting written applications for the position of JFK Transfer Station Attendant.  This is a part time position.  The JFK Transfer Station is currently open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 – 4 and also open on Wednesdays during the Summer.  Current wage is $15.00 per hour.  Written application should be mailed to the town clerk and received by Tuesday, July 26, 2022.  Preference will be given to Town of Highland residents.
