PUBLIC TEST OF ELECTION TABULATION EQUIPMENT

Pursuant to Section 5.84 of the Wisconsin Statutes, notice is hereby given that a public test of the DS200 tabulation equipment and the ExpressVote ballot marking equipment to be used at the above election, will be held as follows:

Budget Hearing/Special Meeting of the Electors/Special Town Board Meeting

Notice is hereby given that on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall, a public hearing on the 2021 proposed town budget will be held. The proposed budget in detail is available from the town clerk upon request.              State Statute 65.90(3)
Notice is hereby given of a Special Town  Meeting of the Electors of the Town of Highland on Thursday, November 12, 2020  This Special Town Meeting will follow the completion of the Public Hearing on the proposed 2021 Town Budget, which begins at 7:00 p.m., at the Highland Town Hall.  This Special Town Meeting of the electors is called pursuant to Sec. 60.12(1)(b) of Wis. Statutes by the Town Board for the following purpose:
To adopt the 2020 Town Tax Levy to be paid in 2021 in pursuant to Sec. 10(1)(a) of Wis. Statutes.
Notice is hereby given that on Thursday,  November 12, 2020, immediately following the completion of the Special Town Meeting of the Electors, which shall follow the public hearing on the 2021 proposed budget, which begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall, a Town Board Meeting will be held for the following purpose:
For the Town Board to discuss and adopt the 2021 Budget for the Town of Highland.

Special Town Board Meeting

There will be a Special Town Board Meeting on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall.  Discussion will be held on the remaining 2020 Budget and the proposed 2021 Budget.


Absentee Voting

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

NOVEMBER 3, 2020

GENERAL ELECTION

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered to vote in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.

You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing or online at MyVote.wi.gov.

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the election.  You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter. Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail, email, fax, in person or at MyVote.wi.gov.

The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is: Thursday, October 29, 2020.

Note: Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact your municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

The first date to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office:     Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

The last day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office:       Friday, October 30, 2020.

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on November 3, 2020. Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.

You may request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office, or other specified location, during the days and hours listed below for casting an absentee ballot in person.

Regular Town Board Meeting

The Regular Town Board Meeting will be held on

Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall. The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. to review correspondence and disbursements.


Plan Commission Meeting

The Plan Commission will be meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall.  The committee will be discussing and acting upon the Conditional Use Permit request from Duane & Vallarie Myers 8063 S Khalar Rd for Home Occupation (Light Auto/Small Engine Shop in Garage)


Special Town Board Meeting

There will be a Special Town Board Meeting on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.  Topic of discussion and possible action:  replacing defective fire number signs, request to re-zone from Bois Brule LLC, and adjusting the 2020 Budget.


Plan Commission Meeting

The Plan Commission will be meeting on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall.  The committee will be discussing and acting upon the Petition to Rezone from Bois Brule LLC , 7250 S Castle Road.

Blacktopping Fire Tower Court

The contractor plans on blacktopping Fire Tower Court Road on Monday morning. The road will be closed for about 4-5 hours.
