Absentee Voting February 20, 2018 Election

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

FOR FEBRUARY 20, 2018, SPRING PRIMARY

 

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 10 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered to vote in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.

 

You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing.

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the primary or general election or both. You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter. Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail, e-mail or in person.

Note: Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact your municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on February 20, 2018. Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.

 

You may request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office, or other specified location, during the days and hours listed below for casting an absentee ballot.

Budget Hearing, Town Meeting of Electors, Special Town Board Meeting

Notice is hereby given that on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall, a public hearing on the 2018 proposed town budget will be held.  The proposed budget in detail is available for inspection from the town clerk upon request.  State Statute 65.90(3)

Notice is hereby given of a Special Town  Meeting of the Electors of the Town of Highland on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.  This Special Town Meeting will follow the completion of the Public Hearing on the proposed 2018 Town Budget, which begins at 6:00 p.m., at the Highland Town Hall.  This Special Town Meeting of the electors is called pursuant to Sec. 60.12(1)(b) of Wis. Statutes by the Town Board for the following purpose:

To adopt the 2017 Town Tax Levy to be paid in 2018 in pursuant to Sec. 10(1)(a) of Wis. Statutes.

Notice is hereby given that on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, immediately following the completion of the Special Town Meeting of the Electors, which shall follow the public hearing on the 2018 proposed budget, which begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall, a Town Board Meeting will be held for the following purpose:

For the Town Board to discuss and adopt the 2018 Budget for the Town of Highland.

There will be a Special Town Board Meeting on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Highland Town Hall. Items discussed and possible acted on will be the floor drains at the town garage, amending the remainder of the 2017 budget and creating a preliminary 2018 budget.
